Quick Pizza Dough

The following quick pizza dough recipe makes about two 12 inch pizza crusts. The time required to make this dough is about 15 minutes. To make this dough you are going to need the following ingredients:

  • 3 ½ cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 pckg of Rapid Rise Yeast
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Mix in two cups of flour with yeast and salt in a large bowl. Add in the water and olive oil to the flour mixture.  Keep on folding the dough and add in the rest of the flour slowly until the dough becomes elastic and does not stick to the bowl.  The entire process shouldn’t take you more than five minutes altogether.

Now cover the bowl with something and put it away in a warm place for ten minutes. The reason we have to do this is because the dough needs some time to rise. It will also make your pizza crust taste better.  After the time is up, slightly flour a flat surface and then roll out the dough on it.  Your dough is now done and ready to be used as your pizza crust.

As for the ingredients, you are not going to need much. The most important are going to be the yeast and the flour. The less important such as olive oil, sugar, and salt can be replaced by something else if you don’t have them at home. Here is the full list of the ingredients with proportions:

  • 1 cup of warm water
  • 1 pckg or 2 tablespoons of active dry yeast
  • 1 tea spoon of sugar
  • 1 cup of cold water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • a pinch of salt
  • 5 cups of flour

 

Prep:

  1. Mix yeast, warm water, and sugar in a large bowl.  Wait for about 10 minutes so that the mixture rises.
  2. Mix in olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture.
  3. Add in the flour and the cold water slowly. Combine the mixture and do this until you’ve used up all the flour and water.
  4. Keep on folding the dough until the right consistency. The dough must be elastic. If the dough still sticks to the surface of the bowl then add more flour.
  5. Knead the dough into a ball and seal the container with a plastic wrap.
  6. You can now put the dough away and let it chill overnight which will develop a better taste for the dough or wait out about 1 hour and then use it.

Pizza Dough Without Yeast

Making pizza dough without yeast is not really that hard. It might seem like something impossible but it’s actually very simple that is if you have the ingredient that we are going to use which is baking powder. Yes that’s true we are going to use a baking powder to form our crust.

First of all get yourself a large mixing bowl and have a flat surface ready.

Ingredients:

2 & ½ cup of All-Purpose Flour

4 teaspoons of Baking Powder

1 teaspoon of Salt

1 tablespoon of Olive Oil

1 cup of Water

Directions:

  1. Mix in the flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add in the water and olive oil to the mixture. Work the dough with your hands until the dough is soft. If the dough is a little bit dry add some more water.
  3. Form the dough into a ball shape and then take it out on a flat surface. Use a rolling pin to spread the dough evenly across the surface.
  4. Put any toppings that you want on the crust and put it in the oven for about 20 minutes at 400F or until golden brown at the sides.

Whole Wheat Pizza Crust

There is nothing better that making yourself your own homemade pizza crust. When you make your own pizza crust you can choose the ingredients that you want to use in your recipe and thus you can always create something different. One of the ingredients that you can always kind of play around with is the flour.  Different types of flour make different tasting pizza crusts.

One of my favorite crusts is a whole wheat pizza crust. It is not only great in flavor but is a much healthier alternative to using all-purpose flour.  It is rich in fiber and the good protein that your body needs to function at its fullest.  It is very easy to make and it will make your pizza taste awesome.

Ingredients:

2 cups of Whole Wheat Flour

A pinch of Salt

1 cup of Warm Water

1 tablespoon of Olive Oil

1 teaspoon of Honey

2 tablespoons of Active Dry Yeast

Directions:

  1. Get a large mixing bowl. Pour in yeast, honey, and water and mix them well together. Make sure that the water is not to hot or otherwise the mixture will not rise. Wait out about 10 minutes for the mixture to rise.
  2. Add in the flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix it well together and make sure that the dough is not too sticky. If it still stick to the sides of the mixing bowl then add some flour.
  3. Start kneading the dough and leave it in a shape of a ball.
  4. Cover the mixing bowl with a plastic wrap or a piece of cloth and leave it in a warm place for a while. About 20 minutes.
  5. Take out the dough on some flat surface and use a rolling pin to evenly roll out the dough. Dust your working area with flour if necessary.
  6. Arrange any toppings you want on the pizza dough and you have just made yourself a pizza with a whole wheat pizza crust.
